Quick Recommendations
Just a quick post to give some props to some good artists out there, as summer is approaching so is the time when its more convenient to spend some time in the chair and get some sweet new ink, just don’t wait too long, there is nothing worse than sitting around on a hot day not able to get in the pool cause you have a brand spanking new tattoo that you need to look after… Oh wait there is, getting in the pool and ruining that master piece you just had done. So here are some quick recommendations from our mate Leigh whose tattoo is the focus of the Vic Market Tattoo post:
Central Ink – See Joel http://www.myspace.com/centralink
Dangerzone – See Craig http://dangerzonetattoo.com/home.html
Sideshow Tattoos – See Trish, she’s one of owners http://sideshowtattoos.com.au/
Vic Market Tattoo – See Olivia as we mentioned in the post bellow http://www.victat.com/
We will get some more info and proper posts up on these places shortly but until then take these as some starting suggestions as places to check out.
Off Ya Tree Tattooing
The Off Ya Tree store on Swanston St in the city now also has a tattoo parlour as well as the piercing studio which they have had for quite some time. Located in essentially the heart of the city gives it a very convenient location for access with countless buses, trains and trams servicing the area. Being located in a store also gives them the advantage of taking away some of the pressure if it is your first visit to a tattoo parlour. Sometimes it is good to be able to look at t-shirts and random paraphernalia to escape the initial shock to the system that comes with walking into a dedicated tattoo parlour
Tattoo school for tattoo courses
The Australian Tattoo Academy is Australia’s only tattooing school and fortunately for us it is located in Mornington, however if you live in another state of Australia they also run courses in Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart. If your good at drawing and are interested in getting into the tattooing industry then you should definitely check it out. However it is important to remember that if you can’t draw it with a pencil, chances are you’re not going to be able to tattoo it. So if like me you are fairly uncoordinated when it comes to putting pen to paper then perhaps its best to just stay on the receiving end of the needle.
The academy runs 10 day courses run over a period of 10 weeks, so you take one class per week for the duration.
